Fred McNear has worked as a commercial real estate broker since 2012 and specializes in the office and retail sectors. Before joining Starboard, he spent two years in the San Francisco office for NAI Northern California. Prior to embarking on a second career in commercial real estate, Fred worked for 20 years in the logistics and transportation industry. The last five of those years he spent as a general manager operating 70-unit trucking terminal in Oakland, California, for Maersk, Inc., and later, establishing and running a new terminal operation for Knight Transportation.
Fred is a fifth-generation San Francisco native who now lives with his wife in Oakland. Fred enjoys exploring the Bay Area’s vibrant restaurant scene, with Kokkari and Penrose as perennial family favorites. When not matching clients with their ideal spaces, Fred can be found at local art galleries, barbecuing with friends, or venturing to international locales as Norway and the Netherlands. Active in the outdoors, Fred enjoys golf, swimming, and hiking the East Bay hills. His next challenge? Learning the guitar.
